Hi Everybody,
Welcome back to our beautiful campus and Happy New Year! I hope you had wonderful holidays and that you are rested, ready and excited for 2020.
We have great momentum as we enter a new decade. At 31,500 students, we are larger than ever and applications to our programs continue to rise. Our research funding, a proxy for quality and impact, has surged by 29 per cent this year, more than any other medical or comprehensive university in the country, and is expected to continue to grow.
We ranked in the Top 5 in Maclean’s (third for student satisfaction) and the prestigious international UI GreenMetric recently ranked Carleton second in Canada and 35th in the world for campus sustainability.
The beautiful ARISE Building is now ready for occupancy, and the transformative new home for the Sprott School, the Nicol Building, will be completed within the year. The Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre, our cultural and academic hub downtown, is now fully operational and bustling with activity.
As you know, we are in the process of renewing our Strategic Integrated Plan, and these plans matter because over time they become our reality. After a busy fall season of consultation, the co-chairs and task force are moving into the drafting phase, with more consultations to come this winter.
We are writing the next chapter of our history, and the future is bright for Carleton. I wish everyone all the best for a great year in 2020! Go Ravens!
Sincerely,
Benoit
