Biography

Solomon Aklilu received his PhD in Economics from Carleton. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Addis Ababa University in Addis Ababam, Ethiopia.

Aklilu’s research interests include development and economic growth in Africa and the Latin Americas, and African economic and political strides.

Currently, Aklilu is an Economist and Statistician at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) in Ottawa.

Aklilu has previously taught many courses in Economics, Mathematics, and Statistics at Carleton, the University of Windsor and Acadia University, as well as St. Lawrence University and State University of New York (SUNY- Canton) in the USA.

He has worked in the public sector at the Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC) and in the private sector at Informetrica Limited (a small research company created in the 1970s) as a Senior Economist.

Aklilu has published in the Latinamericanist Journal and The Informetrica Internal Studies Journal.
