Carment is a NATO Fellow and is listed in Who’s Who in International Affairs. He serves as the principal investigator for the Country Indicators for Foreign Policy project (CIFP). He is the editor of Canadian Foreign Policy Journal and is a Fellow at the Canadian Global Affairs Institute.
He has served as the director of Carleton’s former Centre for Security and Defence Studies (now part of the Centre for Security, Intelligence and Defence Studies). He has received SSHRC fellowships and research awards, Carleton’s Research Achievement Award and a Petro-Canada Young Innovator Award.

Andrea Charron

Charron was a participant of Canada’s Management Trainee Program and worked for various federal departments, including the Privy Council Office in the Security and Intelligence Secretariat. She is now a research associate at Carleton’s Centre for Security and Defence Studies at NPSIA, where she was a SSHRC postdoctoral fellow. She is author of UN Sanctions and Conflict: Responding to Peace and Security Threats, which explores the application of the UN Security Council’s mandatory sanctions since 1946 and, in particular, the regimes adopted for specific types of conflict. Her research interests include UN sanctions, Article 41 tools and Canadian foreign and defence policy.

Elinor Sloan’s research interests include U.S. and Canadian defence policy and military capabilities, homeland defence, ballistic missile defence, NORAD and NATO military capabilities. She is able to discuss the potential roles and contributions of the Canadian Forces.
Stephen Saideman

Saideman’s research interests focus on the causes and consequences of intervention into intra-state conflicts. His current research deals with the role of legislatures in democratic civil-military relations. He teaches courses on contemporary international security, civil-military relations and United States foreign and defence policy. Saideman has expertise in civil-military relations, ethnic conflict, civil war and foreign policy analysis.
