Carleton’s Office for Chemistry Outreach will host its annual nighttime magic show Light Up the Night with Chemistry in the Dark. There will be hand-on activities for families to enjoy prior to the show.

When: Friday, May 19, 2017, hands-on activities begin at 7 p.m., magic show begins at dusk, approximately 8:45 p.m.

Admission is free, however donations of cash and non-perishable food items for the Ottawa Food Bank are accepted.

The family-friendly magic show will feature explosions, a look at the inner workings of fireworks, spontaneous combustions and things that glow in the dark.

Before the main event, visitors will get a chance to make ice cream with liquid nitrogen, encounter interesting smells, make slime, see some of the demonstrations up close, and much more at the hands-on activities station.

In celebration of Carleton’s 75th anniversary, the one-hour show will include special, never-before-seen experiments and new hands-on activities.
