In light of Ottawa’s struggles with issues of density and high-rise construction, Carleton University presents a Forum Lecture featuring Robert Forest (BArch/94). Forest’s firm specializes in super-tall skyscrapers, such as the Jeddah Tower, which will overtake the Burj Khalifa as the world’s tallest building when completed in 2020.

The lecture entitled Design and PerFORMance, is part of the Forum Lecture series presented by Carleton’s Azrieli School of Architecture and Urbanism. The lecture will highlight how Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill (AS+GG) Architecture’s performative design process informs the buildings they create.
Forest will discuss super-tall buildings, sustainability and defining cities, while going into his work on Jeddah Tower, the next world’s tallest building at over 1000m, under construction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Wuhan Greenland Tower at 636m in Wuhan China; as well as sustainable communities worldwide.
About Robert Forest
Robert Forest, a partner at AS+GG, fellow of the American Institute of Architects, vice president of AIA Chicago, Carleton University graduate and former Ottawa Rough Rider and Carleton Raven, is an expert in the execution of super-tall buildings.
Prior to founding AS+GG in 2006 with Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill, Forest was an associate partner in the Chicago office of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP, and worked on Burj Khalifa (828m), the world’s tallest building; Zifeng Tower (458m) and Pearl River Tower (300m), designed as the world’s first zero energy super tall. AS+GG is dedicated to the design of high performance sustainable architecture that pushes conventional boundaries.
About the Forum Lecture Series
The Forum Lecture series is a tradition of the Azrieli School of Architecture and Urbanism. First initiated in 1968, the lecture series is an inspiring event, introducing the Carleton community to leading architectural thinkers. Held during the academic year, approximately one lecture is held per month from the end of Sept. to March.
