Carleton University is pleased to announce the appointment of Michel Piché as Vice-President (Finance and Administration) starting July 18, 2016.

Piché is currently Vice-President, Corporate Management and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the National Research Council Canada. With more than 18 years of experience as a finance and corporate services executive, Piché has served in a variety of agencies and enterprises including Central Wire Industries Ltd., the Canadian Red Cross Society, Explosive Technologies International, Northern Telephone Ltd. and Canadian Pacific Forest Products Ltd.

Piché’s experience includes working with human resources, strategic planning, information technology and cyber security, regulatory affairs, financial management, procurement and logistics, investment oversight, auditing, working with boards, oversight of building construction and maintenance, risk assessment and management, program evaluation, provision of innovation support for strategic research, and scientific and technical services for researchers.

Piché completed the Executive Marketing program at Western, the Executive Management program at Duke and the Masters in Public Administration at the Université du Québec. He is a Certified Internal Auditor by the Institute of Internal Auditors, and a Chartered Professional Accountant by the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario. He has taught for Nipissing University as course instructor for the Bachelor of Commerce program offered at Algonquin College. He is involved with CPA Ontario in developing and presenting workshops on Integrated Planning and Budgeting.

He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Ottawa Community Immigrant Services Organization and chair of the NRC’s annual United Way fundraising campaign.
