Carleton’s Rafik Goubran, dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Design and member of the 2012 Medical Devices Summit Program Committee, will co-chair the breakout session Establishing Networks and Information Sharing.

The summit will follow up on the 2010 and 2011 Medical Devices Summits, which involved over 250 senior officials from more than 100 Canadian organizations across the sector.  This year’s summit will focus on critical areas contained in the National Medical Devices Strategy for Canada Report released this year:

  • Targeting R&D to Meet Clinical Needs
  • Effective Commercialization Funding Models
  • Enhancing Knowledge and Training
  • Preparing for Global Markets
  • Improving Health-Care System and Industry Collaboration
  • Promoting Networks and Information-Sharing
  • Increasing Advocacy and Public Awareness
  • Effective Reimbursement Policies

The summit provides attendees with the opportunity to interact with industry experts, network with peers and contribute to making Canada one of the top competitors in the global medical device market.
