Fifty-two of the brightest high school students from across Canada will converge on Carleton University on July 3 as part of the 2011 Shad Valley Program.
This four-week residential program provides a transformative experience, pushing the students to expand their horizons and think in unconventional ways.
“The program is a perfect fit for Carleton as the university promotes innovative experiences for its students to better equip them in solving real-world problems,” says Dr. Kate Oakley, program director for Shad Carleton.
The participants will take part in stimulating workshops and extraordinary lectures, as well as meeting with industry and community leaders from the Ottawa region and renowned researchers at Carleton. This will culminate in thought-provoking projects that the public can see at an Open House on July 28.
This is the 31st year for the award-winning Shad Valley program. Shad International is a Canadian not-for-profit organization based in Waterloo, Ontario. The program currently boasts a network of over 11,000 Shad Valley alumni including 22 Rhodes Scholars, more than 200 benefactors and thousands of educators at schools nation-wide.
