Carleton University’s Azrieli School of Architecture and Urbanism is pleased to announce that Tim and Pat Murray will present the next instalment of the 2009/2010 Forum Lecture Series.
The brothers are well known in Ottawa, both as architects and active members of the community. They established the Murray and Murray practice in 1961. Notable accomplishments for the firm include Scotia Bank Place, Dunton Tower and Robertson Hall at Carleton University, the original Algonquin College campus, master planning and various buildings at the University of Ottawa and Minto Place.
In addition to architectural work, Pat led a parallel career in politics as mayor of Rockcliffe and councillor for the former regional government.
Former professional partners and staff include George Bemi, Idwal Richards, Alex Rankin, Tony Griffiths, John Cook, Bob Webster, Richard Limmert, Doug Clancey and Diane Phillips.
The Forum lecture by Tim and Pat Murray will take place at the National Gallery of Canada on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009 at 6 p.m. The lecture will highlight their body of work and the experience of running one of Ottawa’s largest architectural practices.
The popular Forum Lecture Series brings several national and international architects to Ottawa to educate students, faculty and the general public about the profession and the impact that architecture has on design. The series is funded entirely by the friends of the Azrieli School of Architecture and Urbanism, including local architectural firms and building supply companies.
Carleton University’s Azrieli School of Architecture and Urbanism’s facilities are recognized as the finest in Canada and among the best in North America. Graduates from Carleton work around the globe in traditional and non-traditional architectural practices, as well as in disciplines ranging from filmmaking, graphic design and fashion design to highly technical fields such as computer animation, building science and environmental design.
