Every year from November 25 to December 10, people all over the world observe the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. During these 16 days, Carleton University will share a variety of resources, information, stories and videos to help grow awareness about this issue and encourage everyday activism and commitment to ending gender-based violence.
One of the most impactful forms of activism to prevent and end gender-based violence is to believe survivors.
Statement of Support from Carleton Community

Gender-based violence is prevalent in the higher education sector. On June 28, 2023 at Waterloo University, a man targeted a gender studies class to harm its faculty members. This resulted in a cross-province response from a majority of universities (including Carleton) to remove classrooms from public-facing websites.
Teaching and learning that centers gender, sexuality, race, disability, intersectional forms of violence, and social justice takes place across the Carleton University community.
Here, faculty members from Carleton’s five faculties share messages of solidarity with their gender studies colleagues, and to reaffirm that their work impacts us all and is essential to the university.
