In 2023, Duncan McCue joined Carleton University’s School of Journalism and Communications and launched an important course: Reporting in Indigenous Communities.
In his course, students travel to local Indigenous communities, and come back with a multimedia news story based on a central theme.
Most recently, students in McCue’s course collaborated with the Globe and Mail on two articles. The first story reports on the Pikwàkanagàn First Nation opting to buy their land back through the AOPFN Limited Partnership, and was published on May 30. Read the full article here.
The second article, which will be published on June 13, covers the Mohawk Nation of Akwesasne.
