Carleton University President Benoit-Antoine Bacon and Provost Jerry Tomberlin have announced the appointment of Dr. Anne Bowker as Interim Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), effective Aug. 14, 2023.

Since 2018, Bowker has served as the Associate Dean, Student Affairs and Enrolment, in FASS. In this role she has demonstrated remarkable leadership in retention and recruitment initiatives including orientation, on- and off-campus recruitment events as well as First Year Seminars.
“Anne’s leadership, experience and accomplishments throughout her term as Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Enrolment make her well-positioned to lead the faculty in this key role,” said Tomberlin. “Please join me in congratulating Anne on this well-deserved appointment.”
Bowker is a professor in the Department of Psychology. Her research explores life span development, with a particular focus on the critical transitionary periods of early adulthood and mid-life. She completed her undergraduate studies at Concordia University and holds an MA (1987) and a PhD (1996) from the University of Waterloo.
Bowker will succeed L. Pauline Rankin who will be assuming the role of Provost and Vice-President (Academic) as of Aug. 14.
