The Academic Continuity Committee has carefully considered how to best move forward with our summer semester in light of the ongoing COVID-19 situation.
We were very conscious of the need to communicate as rapidly as possible so that teaching staff and students can plan accordingly. As of today, we can confirm that the plan for summer 2020 is as follows:
- Given the still-evolving COVID-19 situation and the continuing need to flatten the curve, all summer 2020 courses at Carleton will be offered through online and other methods of distance learning (e.g. rebroadcasts, BigBlueButton, Kaltura, and Zoom).
- In order to give our academic leadership time to appropriately adjust the slate of summer course offerings, we have delayed summer course registrations by three weeks to April 16, 2020. The full schedule of courses offered will be available on Carleton Central on April 6, 2020.
- All outgoing international experiential learning opportunities, such as international internships, co-op placements, etc. have been cancelled for the summer 2020 term. Placement coordinators will contact students to determine alternative options.
Many thanks in advance to the instructors and teaching support staff who will be continuing to support our students by preparing alternative courses in time for the start of summer term on May 4, 2020.
Sincerely,
Jerry Tomberlin
Provost and Vice-President (Academic)
