Last week, the Government of Ontario implemented further public health measures, which have significant implications for the province’s three current hotspots: Toronto, Ottawa and Peel Region.

The modified Stage 2 order was accompanied by advice from the Chief Medical Officer that people living in these three areas need to “limit trips outside of home, except for essential purposes only such as work where it is not possible to work from home.”

We recognize that some staff and faculty have been accessing their personal offices on campus to support the development and delivery of their courses, and that some researchers have been permitted access to research labs. While this is permitted for essential work that cannot be done remotely, please keep in mind that, in accordance with public health guidelines, anyone who is able to work remotely is expected to do so.

Please be reminded that under orders from the Government of Ontario and guidance from Public Health Ontario and Ottawa Public Health, Carleton is required to implement COVID-19 screening for all employees. All employees (including faculty, contract instructors, staff and teaching/research assistants) must complete the short COVID-19 Screening Form prior to coming to campus and entering a building, including a restricted access building. This form must be completed every day you come to campus.

We have already taken steps to address other parts of the order, notably all dining locations on campus have moved to take-out options only and access to our athletics facilities has been adjusted appropriately.

Thank you for your continued dedication in adapting to these new realities.

Sincerely,

Suzanne Blanchard
