Carleton University’s James Meadowcroft, professor in the School of Public Policy and Administration and the Department of Political Science, will discuss the role of concepts in the evolution of modern environmental policy at an upcoming Author Meets Readers event.
Meadowcroft is co-editor, with Daniel J. Fiorino, of the book Conceptual Innovation in Environmental Policy.

Conceptual Innovation in Environmental Policy focuses on influential concepts ranging from “environment” to “sustainable consumption” and their role in the evolution of modern environmental policy.
Meadowcroft will be joined by panelists Kimberley Keller, PhD student in the School of Indigenous and Canadian Studies, and Lorne Johnson, vice-president of the Ivey Foundation. Keller’s research centres on environmental rights and the application of policy mechanisms. Johnson has 25 years of experience forging collaborative solutions to sustainability challenges in Canada.
This event is part of the Ottawa International Writer’s Festival.
About the Author
Meadowcroft’s research is focused on the ways in which governments are adjusting their practices and policies to cope with problems with the environment and sustainable development.
