Carleton University’s Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) presents CU in the City, a popular series of talks that shares FASS research in communities across Ottawa and Canada.
This edition of CU in the City features Megan Rivers-Moore and Marie-Eve Carrier-Moisan discussing sex tourism. What is sex tourism? Why do tourists and locals participate in it? What is in it for them? What do love and sex have to do with it? What about money and race?
When: March 3, 2020 at 6:30 P.M.
Where: Venus Envy, 226 Bank Street

In this joint conversation, Rivers-Moore and Carrier-Moisan will share stories from their research on sex tourism in Costa Rica and Brazil. They will explore some commonly held ideas about buying and selling sex while on vacation, and show that sex tourism works differently and is more complicated than most people think. By sharing stories and experiences from Brazil and Costa Rica, they hope to shed light on this complex issue.
