Carleton University’s Amir Hakami, Ahmed Abdulla and Kristen Schell will host Lessons in Rapid Transition: Climate Change in the Post-Pandemic World, presented by the Faculty of Engineering and Design as part of Carleton’s 2020 Throwback homecoming celebration.

About the Panel: 
In this talk, panelists Amir Hakami, Ahmed Abdulla and Kristen Schell will discuss how some of the lessons we have learned from the national and global response to COVID-19 can help us address the Herculean climate crisis, as we seek to stabilize the climate over the next several decades. Audience questions and answers will follow the discussion.

About the Speakers:

  • Hakami is the Faculty of Engineering and Design’s associate dean, Research and Graduate Studies and an associate professor in Carleton’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
  • Abdulla recently joined Carleton’s Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, coming from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
  • Schell also recently joined Carleton’s Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, coming from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York where she was part of a team awarded a United States Department of Energy Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy grant.
