Ryan Conrad

Conrad is an activist, artist, and cultural studies scholar whose research interests include queer studies, queer of colour critique, affect theory, archival practices, film and media, HIV/AIDS, sex work, migration, and social movement history. Conrad previously held a postdoctoral appointment at the AIDS Activist History Project housed in Sociology at Carleton. His manuscript entitled Radical VIHsion: Canadian AIDS Film and Video is forthcoming in 2021.

Shotwell’s research interests include social and political theory, with a current focus on complicity and complexity as a ground for ethical and political action. She is cross-appointed with Carleton’s Department of Philosophy and the Pauline Jewett Institute, Women and Gender Studies. Shotwell is available to speak about the history of AIDS activism in Canada and is the co-investigator for the AIDS Activist History project
