Garlen is available to discuss childhood, early childhood education, popular culture and cultural curriculum studies. Her research interests include exploring the ways cultural discourses shape the lives of children through ideologies of race, class, gender and sexuality. Garlen wrote a piece for The Conversation about COVID-19 as an opportunity to rethink children’s rights. She has an upcoming article about World Children’s Day as an opportunity to reimagine childhood through a social justice lens.
