Thomson is the Canada Research Chair in Radiotherapy Physics.  Her research involves the development and application of computational techniques to study the interaction of radiation and matter – often focusing on questions relevant for cancer radiation therapy.

Johns is a medical imaging physicist whose research focuses on novel ways of using X-rays for medical diagnosis.  He is particularly interested in developing systems to extract information from scattered X-rays, measurement of X-ray scattering cross-sections, and dual-energy radiography.
