Saideman’s research interests focus on the causes and consequences of intervention into intra-state conflicts. His current research deals with the role of legislatures in democratic civil-military relations.  He teaches courses on contemporary international security, civil-military relations and United States foreign and defence policy. Saideman also has expertise in ethnic conflict and civil war.

Beckton has extensive experience in a broad range of areas, including leading large organizations, strategic planning, governance, leadership to change systems, risk management, gender, diversity, inclusion, Indigenous policy issues and advancement of women’s leadership. She is the author of Own It, Your Success, Your Life, Your Future.

She served as the deputy head of Status of Women Canada, managing the departmental agency and providing advice to ministers. She led development of public policy for the advancement of women and helped non-profits to seek funding to benefit women.

Lilly is an award-winning researcher and public policy expert. She served as Foreign Affairs and International Trade adviser to Canada’s prime minister from 2013 to 2015.  She has extensive experience in free-trade negotiations and international trade, public policy development, executive branch decision-making, international security matters and Canada-United States relations.

Ian Lee

Lee has appeared multiple times before the House of Commons Finance and Senate Banking committees. He has been in every Government of Canada budget lockup since 2008. He attended pre-budget consultations with the Minister of Finance in 2009 and 2011.

He was employed in the financial services sector as a loan manager in consumer, mortgage and commercial credit for an American multinational and subsequently for the Bank of Montreal in the 1970s and early 1980s.

Lee is available to discuss topics summit topics related to President Trump, tariffs and the North American Free Trade Agreement.

Germain’s research interests focus on themes and questions in the field of international political economy, including theoretical debates, global economic governance and the political economy of global finance. He was formerly chair of the Department of Political Science. He has co-edited the Routledge RIPE Series in Global Political Economy (2000–2007), and convened the International Political Economy Group of the British International Studies Association (1998-2001).

Higginbotham served in senior Canadian diplomatic posts in Washington, D.C., Hong Kong and Beijing, and as an assistant deputy minister in Transport Canada, Global Affairs Canada and the Canada School of Public Service (CSPS).

During his career, Higginbotham attended and helped to organize several G7 summits. He has researched its origin and stability as an academic. He is available to comment on Canadian summit risks, including the current relationship with the Trump administration.
