Carleton University’s Urban Research Lab at the Azrieli School of Architecture and Urbanism will host the first annual Summer Cities Symposium: Working Waterfronts, Freshwater Fictions.
The event will explore the issues and challenges surrounding urban waterfronts, focused on the themes of environment, equity and infrastructure.
When: Friday, July 13 to Saturday, 14, 2018, panels will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., respectively.
Where: All panels will be held in the Azrieli School of Architecture and Urbanism, Carleton University

Through the symposium’s panel discussions, tours and workshops, participants will engage the variety of stories and visualizations that are created to communicate ideas that describe and shape waterfronts.
The symposium will feature experts from cities along the Great Lakes, Ottawa-Gatineau area and St. Lawrence River. Speakers from the National Capital Commission (NCC), the Gatineau Planning Department and First Nations communities will discuss the past and future of the capital region’s waterfronts. Faculty and students from symposium co-sponsor SJB School of Architecture and Planning in Bengaluru, India will be participating in the event.
