Carleton University Art Gallery Honoured with Three Ontario Association of Art Galleries Awards

The Carleton University Art Gallery (CUAG) was honoured with three awards at the 40th annual Ontario Association of Art Galleries (OAAG) awards ceremony in Toronto on Nov. 27, 2017.

“It is truly an honour for CUAG to receive these awards from OAAG, particularly because they are adjudicated by juries of our peers,” said Sandra Dyck, CUAG director. “I extend my congratulations to the artists, writers and curators whose work OAAG recognized, and thank the CUAG staff for their commitment and hard work.”

CUAG Awards

The “Exhibition of the Year (budget under $20,000, monographic)” award was given to the exhibition Open Space Lab 01: Gita Hashemi, curated by Anna Khimasia and presented at CUAG in winter 2017.

The “Innovation in a Collections-Based Exhibition” award was given to the exhibition Maura Doyle: the Vessel, that with fugitive Articulation answer’d, how deep is your love?, curated by Heather Anderson and presented at CUAG in summer 2016.

Two guest writers for the Meryl McMaster: Confluence exhibition catalogue were recognized with Curatorial Writing Awards in the 2000-5000 words category. The writers honoured are cheyanne turions, Director of Education and Public Programs at the Vancouver Art Gallery, and Gabrielle Moser, assistant professor of Art History at OCAD University.

Meryl McMaster: Confluence was published in 2016 by CUAG in collaboration with The Rooms / Provincial Art Gallery Division, Thunder Bay Art Gallery and the University of Lethbridge Art Gallery.
