Goubran is acting vice-president (Research and International). Prior to this, he served as the dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Design at Carleton for almost a decade.
Goubran’s research expertise lies in the area of biomedical engineering, sensors, data analytics, and digital signal processing. He continues his research projects dealing with real-time patient monitoring and the design of smart homes for the independent living of seniors. As a researcher, he has enjoyed many notable industry partnerships and has supervised over 80 graduate students. Goubran is a Fellow of the IEEE and of the Canadian Academy of Engineering.

His research interests cover many aspects of wireless technologies, with a special emphasis on cellular networks. He has co-authored about 300 peer-reviewed research papers, including over 85 in IEEE journals, and has given numerous tutorials and seminars on wireless technologies at leading international conferences. In recent years, his research has been funded by Huawei, Telus, Allen Vanguard, Blackberry, Samsung, Communications Research Centre of Canada (CRC), DragonWave and Nortel. This collaborative research resulted in about 25 patents (granted and applied).
Yanikomeroglu is a Fellow of the IEEE. He is a Distinguished Lecturer for the IEEE Communications Society (2015 to 2018) and a Distinguished Speaker for the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society in 5G wireless technologies.

Atia’s research includes real-time embedded systems, sensor-fusion, signal processing, estimation, machine learning and artificial intelligence. He has held several full-time positions in industry, developing algorithms for natural language processing, online speech recognition and real-time embedded multi-sensors navigation, guidance and control systems.
Atia is available to comment on technical aspects related to autonomous vehicle navigation.

Sasiadek’s research interests include robotics and automation, control systems, guidance, navigation and control, aerospace control, fuzzy logic systems and neural networks.
Sasiadek is a director of American Council of Automatic Control and member of AIAA Guidance, Navigation and Control Technical Committee. He is a member of the Council with the International Federation of Automatic Control and is the Chair, IEEE Joint Robotics and Control Systems Society Chapter in Ottawa.
