It’s Canadian Environment Week and Carleton experts are available to discuss related topics.

Stephan Schott
Associate professor with the School of Public Policy and Administration

Phone: 613-520-2600, ect. 2557

Schott is available to speak about environmental taxation (the Carbon Tax), renewable energy and issues relating to Arctic mammals.

One of his major research interests is the governance of common pool resources such as fisheries, water resources and oil pools.  He is currently undertaking experimental research on output-sharing partnerships in different communication environments.  This research is relevant for policy and natural management applications in commercial fisheries as well as sharing rules in indigenous cultures, particularly in Arctic regions. His other focus is on energy policy and economics.

James Meadowcroft
Professor with the Department of Political Science, Canada Research Chair in Governance for Sustainable Development

Phone: 613-520-2600, ext. 2214

Meadowcroft’s research explores what governments can do to encourage societies to produce and consume in a more sustainable manner. He aims to help Canadian policy-makers to stimulate innovation and accelerate the up-take of greener technologies and social practices. His work strives to find a way to meet human social and economic aspirations, while dramatically reducing associated environmental burdens.
