Carleton to Host Event in Honour of Inauguration of National Holocaust Monument

Carleton University’s Centre for Holocaust Education and Scholarship (CHES) at the Max and Tessie Zelikovitz Centre for Jewish Studies  will host the event “From Vision to Reality” in honour of the inauguration of the National Holocaust Monument. The event will feature guest speakers and the premiere screening of the Ottawa Survivors’ Testimonials film.

Event speaker Rabbi Daniel Frieman, chair of the National Monument Council, will discuss the National Holocaust Monument and its importance for all Canadians. Robert Krell, psychiatrist and founding president of the Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre, will deliver the talk “Reflections on Child Holocaust Survivors: A Personal Perspective.”

Opening remarks will be provided by Shimon Fogel, chief executive officer of the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs, and closing remarks by Jan Grabowski, professor of the history of the Holocaust at the University of Ottawa and a member of CHES advisory board.
