Carleton to Host International Women’s Day 2017 Event with Navdeep Bains

Carleton’s Canada-India Centre and Carleton International are pleased to mark International Women’s Day 2017 with the panel event Gender and Empowerment 2.0 featuring the Honourable Navdeep Bains, minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development.

When: Wednesday, March 8, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: Conference Rooms (Second Floor), Residence Commons Building, Carleton University
Info: This event is open to the public, registration is required.

Media are invited to attend.

The event will discuss what’s next for women’s empowerment and how it relates to women in the workforce, particularly in science and management, and in developing countries.

Bains will deliver an opening address. Following his remarks, he will participate in a panel discussion with leading Carleton faculty members:

  • Banu Örmeci, professor and Jarislowsky Chair in Water and Global Health
  • Lorraine Dyke, professor and associate dean, Sprott School of Business
  • Gopika Solanki, associate professor, Political Science

The panel will be moderated by Pauline Rankin, associate vice-president (Research and International).

Refreshments will be served.

About the Canada-India Centre for Excellence (CICE)

Located in the heart of Canada’s capital, the CICE is a research and training centre dedicated to promoting bilateral ties between the two countries. Key objectives of the centre include supporting policy-relevant research; capacity building for businesses, public officials and academic administrators for more effective engagement; and knowledge dissemination to promote better understanding of top policy issues between the two countries.
