Carleton to Celebrate Giving Tuesday

Carleton University will be launching its annual Giving Tuesday campaign – dubbed Carleton’s “Day for Good” – with a goal to help make higher education a force for good by raising $150,000 in just one day. During the 24 hours of Giving Tuesday, donations made through FutureFunder.ca will be matched dollar-for-dollar (up to $1,000) by Carleton until the fundraising goal is met.

As part of this effort, Carleton’s Day for Good will also be celebrated on campus to feature the many student, faculty and staff-championed projects on Carleton’s crowdfunding site, FutureFunder.ca, and raise awareness of the 24-hour movement.

When: Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: Alumni Hall, Athletics Building, Carleton University, Ottawa
Info: This event is open to the public.

Since 2013, the Carleton community has come together to make each Giving Tuesday an overwhelming success. Year after year, generous donations have been made in support of promising student projects and inspiring research initiatives. Last year alone, 550 Carleton supporters joined forces to raise $122,077 and exceed Carleton’s one-day goal of $100,000. This year, Carleton’s Giving Tuesday initiative has a goal to unlock up to $150,000 in funding that will help students, faculty members and researchers accomplish good in the world.

The celebration will feature an #Unselfie booth to highlight the ways the Carleton community gives back. There will be popcorn stations and many giveaways throughout the day. Project champions will be on site to share exciting news and updates about their causes and raise awareness about this 24-hour movement for good.

Steve Sumarah, Ravens football head coach, and Louise Hayes, president of the Carleton University Alumni Association will be in attendance.
