Carleton University to Celebrate UN’s International Day of the Girl

Carleton University’s Landon Pearson Resource Centre for the Study of Childhood and Children’s Rights will be celebrating the United Nation’s International Day of the Girl with an event featuring displays by Carleton students and remarks by the Honourable Landon Pearson.

When: Wednesday Oct. 19, 2016 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Where: Galleria, Fourth Floor, University Centre, Carleton University

The celebration of the UN’s International Day of the Girl will feature displays by Carleton Prof. Virginia Caputo’s Girlhood Studies class. The event will open with remarks from Pearson, a former senator and one of Canada’s foremost children’s rights advocates.

About the Landon Pearson Resource Centre

The centre located at Carleton University is a leading voice in the discussion of children’s rights and supports initiatives dedicated to the betterment of the lives of children. The centre’s vision is that every child in Canada will grow up aware of his or her rights and be able to exercise them within society. The centre manages the Child Rights Academic Network, as well as the youth network Shaking the Movers and publishes the Canadian Journal of Children’s Rights.
