Carleton University to Host Women in Journalism Panel Discussion

The Carleton University School of Journalism and Communication will be celebrating the 70th anniversary of the conferral of the first Bachelor of Journalism degrees in Canada. Three degrees were granted in 1946, and all went to women.

To honour this historic milestone the school will be hosting a special panel entitled Women in Journalism.

When: Friday, Sept. 16 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Where: Conference Rooms, 2nd floor, River Building, 1125 Colonel By Dr., Ottawa, ON.

Carleton’s prestigious journalism program was the first offered in Canada. From the beginning it produced graduates who took their places in what is today a long line of celebrated Carleton alumni in journalism and related fields, including politics, law and communications.

This event will feature Carleton alumna and CBC senior correspondent Susan Ormiston as the keynote speaker and panelist. Alumni panelists will also include Alyshah Hasham of the Toronto Star and Anita Li of Fusion, with Joanne Chianello of the CBC as the panel moderator.

The special panel will be held as part of Throwback week, Carleton’s homecoming celebration.
