Carleton University Appoints Karen Green as Director of Equity Services

Carleton University has announced the appointment of Karen Green as director of equity services. A graduate of Trent University and Queen’s University Faculty of Law, Green served with the Department of Justice for more than 15 years. She has also been chief executive officer of the Native Women’s Association of Canada. She previously had her own law practice and consulting firm. She worked with the Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples as lead adviser and writer of the chapter on Aboriginal women. She is a citizen of the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.

Green has been executive director of the Odawa Native Friendship Centre and has served as president and as a member of the board of directors of the Minwasshin Lodge, Aboriginal Women’s Support Centre. She has been an active volunteer in the community and has served on the boards of the United Way, the Community Foundation of Ottawa, the Children’s Aid Society and the Champions for Children Foundation. Green is a founding member of the Wabano Centre for Aboriginal Health and she has served on its board. Most recently, she was special adviser to the president of the University of Ottawa on Aboriginal affairs.
