Carleton University is proud to announce that Sudhir Handa and Ruth Harper were awarded the 2012 Leadership in Philanthropy Awards during this year’s Summer Social.
Handa and Harper have demonstrated both outstanding volunteer leadership and financial support in their important work with the Canada-India Centre for Excellence in Science, Technology, Trade and Policy. In November 2010, they made a commitment to Carleton to support the Canada India Centre. From the beginning, that meant a financial pledge, as well as a commitment to seeking other sources of funding. Both Handa and Harper have made pledges to the centre totaling $500,000. In addition, they have secured $450,000 in funding from other sources.
The Carleton University Leadership in Philanthropy Award is presented annually to an individual, family, association, corporation or foundation that, through financial support and outstanding leadership, has had a significant impact of the success of the university.
