Former astronaut Julie Payette will be presented with Doctor of Laws, honoris causa during today’s afternoon convocation at Carleton. Payette will be recognized for her leadership in the exploration of space and as an inspiration to Canadian youth through her example of achievement and service.

Earlier today, former politician and academic Chaviva Hošek was recognized for her transformational role in advancing Canada’s reputation as a global leader in the international research community. Other prominent Canadians recognized during this week’s convocation ceremonies include Aboriginal leader Elijah Harper, HIV/AIDS activist Ron Rosenes, philosopher Ian Hacking and Free the Children founders Craig and Mark Kielburger.
