Carleton University hosted groups of visiting Chinese high school students this week as part of their annual national tour of university campuses.
Participating students – the largest group yet – were in Grades 10 through 12 from Maple Leaf International Schools located in Dalian, Tianjin, and Wuhan, and Concord College of Sino-Canada in Beijing, Shenzhen, and Hunan.
Carleton’s own annual visits to international schools yield numerous applications each year. The university is a popular choice among Maple Leaf and Concord College students for our programs in engineering, business, and communications studies.
The students enjoyed various on-campus activities such as tours and meeting with Chinese hometown graduates. Students were also delighted by a surprise visit from Rodney the Raven, who treated them to some special dance moves. They described the visit as “top notch” and “friendly and welcoming.”
A special thanks and Xie Xie to all of our Carleton student volunteers Stenley Philippe, Andre Scott, Tanya Simard, the campus tour guides, Admission Services, staff at the Fresh Food Company and the Carleton Athletics events team for helping make this year’s event a great success.
