Carleton Anthropology Professor Brian Given is available to talk about gun control issues related to the Sept. 22 parliamentary vote to eliminate the long gun registry. Prof. Given wrote A Most Pernicious Thing about the trade of firearms to Aboriginal people in North America and has been published on the recreational use of firearms.
He will be conducting a studying on gun culture in Canada that looks at legal firearms ownership and use in Canada from historical and contemporary ethnographic perspectives.
He is willing to speak on the various aspects of gun control debates and explain why there is such resistance to the long gun registry.
