Carleton University is pleased to announce that it will host a TEDx event in 2010.
TEDx is a new community program introduced by TED, a non-profit organization devoted to giving millions of knowledge-seekers around the globe direct access to the world’s greatest thinkers and innovators. TED is owned by the Sapling Foundation, a private non-profit foundation established in 1996 by Chris Anderson.
TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are independently-organized
TEDxCarletonU will take place on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will be held at the Gladstone Theatre, Ottawa’s newest theatre venue.
“TEDxCarletonU supports the TED philosophy of ‘Ideas Worth Spreading’,” says Luc Lalande, director of Carleton’s Innovation Transfer Office. “The goal is to provide a platform for the university’s faculty, students or staff to share their innovative ideas with citizens who are equally passionate about making a difference in their community and beyond.”
The theme for TEDxCarletonU centers on Ideas Driving Innovation. In accordance with TEDx guidelines, event attendance will be limited to 100 people. Due to this limit, attendance will be based on application and invitation only.
