Carleton University provides additional support to students during the OC Transpo strike

Carleton University announced today additional services for students during the ongoing transit strike, including a new bus shuttle, free CUTV courses and an extension on the deadline for withdrawing from classes.

In partnership with the three other post-secondary institutions in Ottawa, Carleton has boosted bus shuttle services.

Starting Monday, the university is expanding the hours of operation of shuttle services from 7:00 a.m. to noon and 5:00 to 11:00 p.m.

In addition to the five existing routes, Carleton will begin providing a shuttle route from Kanata on Tuesday.  The shuttle will run every two hours and will pick up at the Hazeldean Mall, make a stop at Algonquin College and continue to Carleton.

We are also increasing the frequency of the Carleton/University of Ottawa shuttle.

In addition to easing transportation challenges faced by students, Carleton is committed to helping those who still can’t make it to campus.

The university is expanding access to many courses through CUTV.  Throughout the duration of the transit strike, all 27 video-on-demand classes will be made freely available to all Carleton students.  This will give on-demand access to an additional 3,700 students.

As well, 14 non-CUTV classes will be added to the CUTV lineup.  This addition will provide Internet access to lectures for an additional 1,500 students.

Carleton has also extended the last day for fee adjustment when withdrawing from winter term courses or the winter portion of two-term courses.  The new date is February 4, 2009.
