Carleton University’s political scientists were ranked #1 while Carleton’s Engineering and Technology faculty earned a #2 ranking among 13 comprensive universities in Canada for their publication output in different categories by RE$EARCH Infosource Inc. Political Science was first for total number of publications by discipline (1999-2004) while Engineering and Technology were the runners up for total number of publications by subfield (1999-2004).
The rankings appeared in the Canadian University Publications (CUP) report which is based on authoritative data produced by the Observatoire des sciences et des technologies at the Université du Québec à Montréal. CUP contains extensive charts and tables analyzing the research output, intensity, impact and efficiency of universities and hospitals and their researchers.
“What this means is that our political scientists, engineers and technologists are prolific researchers with a great publication rate,” observed Vice-President (Research and International) Feridun Hamdullahpur. “Our researchers are also dedicated, innovative, and brilliant in many fields which has helped Carleton attract outstanding students from all over the world.”
